First Family Vacation, Part II…

So I am sure you are anxious to hear the details of our trip, and if you aren’t, then you can stop reading now.

We left for Phoenix on Thursday evening. CIMG0078Saylen did so well at the airport, even while they scanned his bottle to make sure it really was breastmilk at security!! We boarded the plane, and to our total surprise, someone actually asked us to sit next to them – baby and all!! We didn't disappoint our fellow passengers, Saylen slept most the ride, and never made a peep.

As soon as we landed we headed over to our ‘best buddy’s’ house – Kelli – to pick up a pac-n-play for Saylen to sleep in. He woke up to meet her, then went back to sleep on the car ride to Grandpa’s. Unfortunately, we woke up in the middle of the night to our poor little guy practically snoring. Yep, perfect timing, Saylen’s First Cold! This could have been a HUGE disaster, but sticking with his true colors, he took it like a champ.

Most of the day Friday was spent getting CIMG0088ready for all of our guests. The weekend was a required event for the Outside the Family Lines fantasy baseball league. Each owner had to be present for our live draft. Saylen and I went to Costco with Grandpa Greg and pretty much bought the entire store! We did get to spend some time in the sun, and Saylen made his first friend (though you wouldn’t know he was so fond of her from the picture).

CIMG0090Friday night we went to our first Spring Training game of the weekend – Dodgers at Padres. Saylen’s cold was at it’s worst this night, and he wasn’t much of a trooper for his first ever Dodger game. None the less, we took tons of pictures to document the occasion. Here he is singing during his first 7th Inning Stretch!

Saturday was crazy busy! The draft started at noon, and was followed by a Casey Clark ‘Fiesta’, then off to our second Dodger game. Saylen was pretty good during the drDSCN4182aft, minus the fact that he needed my total attention during my first round pick! He was sorry to see his Auntie Nicole turn her team over to Hebert, but he did get to help Aunt Kate and Justin take notes in between naps. The game was fun, but the Dodgers lost and it was way too cold for Spring in Arizona! On the plus side, we did manage to get a great family picture with the boys in their Dodger Blue.DSCN4191

First Family Vacation, Part I…

Our first family vacation will go down in the books as a success!  We had an awesome time in Phoenix seeing family and friends, and soaking up lots of sun. They say pictures are worth a thousand words, and quite honestly I’m tired, so here is a quick look at our trip:

What a Crazy Week…

This week has been extremely hectic!

Monday started off with Spencer not feeling very well. He was somehow able to convince me to take Saylen to work. This actually worked out really well, and Spencer came and picked him up around 11:00 – after he got a little extra sleep!

By Tuesday, Spencer was feeling even worse. I figured since Monday went so well, I would take Saylen with me again. This wasn’t such a success. I had hoped to keep him with me most of the day, but Saylen had a different idea. If he was laying down, he wanted to be picked up, and if I was holding him, he wanted to squirm about!! After some frustration, and lack of productivity, I had to have Spencer come pick him up! I have WAY too much to do this time of year! Spencer had to work before I got off, so my mom came over and stayed with Saylen until I got home. As soon as I got home, we turned around and headed to the grocery store. After shopping, cooking, cleaning up, and talking to an old friend comparing baby stories, I was done for the night.

Yesterday was yet another super busy day. My mom’s, cousin’s, daughter’s, daughter (I’m totally serious about that relationship chain)  is having her Bat Mitzvah this weekend, and my grandma insisted on buying me a new outfit. After a full day of work, I yet again cooked dinner, found time for another old friend, then headed off to the mall with Saylen and my mom. We closed the place down, in fact we practically had to be escorted out the already locked doors, but it was SO nice to buy something in my new (but not permanent) size that wasn’t from Old Navy!! I even signed up for a Nordstrom debit card – which is probably only exciting to those that grew up on Nordstrom!

Thursdays are my day to work away from the office. Today I had a work meeting and took Saylen along. He slept almost the entire time, and was totally well behaved when he was awake! After the meeting I headed to the studio where Michelle, a co-worker, played with Saylen while I got more work done. We ended up staying there until almost 7:00, while Saylen got to meet some new people and I got a couple of things done that could only be done at the later hours. Lucky for me there were leftovers, and Saylen headed straight to bed after his bath, giving me a few extra minutes to update the blog!

Tomorrow my aunt/boss is having surgery. We wish her the best, and promise to hold down the fort while she’s out! But what does that really mean… another long day of work for a mom that wasn’t planning on being full time quite yet! I love my job, and I love that everyone there is so supportive of our family, but yay for vacation next week!!

Sorry no new pictures. Please re-read if you don’t understand why there aren’t any :)

Getting Ready for Vacation…

This past week was a busy one, and the next month isn’t going to be any calmer. Every weekend from now until mid-April has a jam-packed schedule, but most exciting is our trip to Phoenix in 2 weeks.

Spencer started a Fantasy Baseball league - Outside the Family Lines – 2 years ago. The rule when joining was that you must attend Spring Training and a live draft in Phoenix in 2010. So here we are 2 years later, with a 3 month old baby, and ready to take our first family vacation!! We will be going to a Mariners game, a Dodgers game, seeing family and friends, and hosting the live draft at Grandpa Greg’s house.

I am not at all worried about traveling with Saylen, just a little overwhelmed with the task of packing! There are so many MUST HAVE items, what if we forget one? I try to remind myself that diapers and wipes for the plane, and a carseat (which we can’t really get to the airport without), and the rest can be purchased when we get there! Now, that doesn’t mean a bunch of other things wouldn’t make our lives a whole lot easier in the process! I must start a packing list tomorrow!!

Yesterday my mom and I celebrated Saylen’s 3 month birthday with a little trip to the outlet mall. I got a few things for me, and a few more things for Saylen. He will be sporting a variety of new goodies on his vacation including some new shoes, a few hats, a swimsuit, and of course some shorts and t-shirts! I sure hope it gets nice here before he grows out of it all!

Somehow during our very busy week I was able to get a few good pictures of our growing boy. According to my home measurements he is 24.25 inches and almost double is birth weight at 14 pounds!!

DSCN4093 Saylen slept in his room the entire night for the first time last night (he was splitting time between his crib and his pack-n-play that was in our room), but that doesn’t mean he can’t sneak into our room for a little nap here and there! DSCN4089Great Grammy bought Saylen this adorable baseball outfit and he has only worn it 3 times – it’s now too small! CIMG0081The little guy has ALMOST mastered thumbsucking… but then again he really just likes putting anything in his mouth!CIMG0192This picture is actually from a little more than a week ago – pre haircut – but I thought it was cute!CIMG0213The dogs have really taken a liking to the baby. Turq loves to lick Saylen’s toes!!
