For Spencer’s birthday we went to a Mariner’s game. It was a Thursday day game, and the weather was PERFECT! Saylen had soooooo much fun!! He got a special certificate for his first game, a Mariner Moose poster and a few baseball cards – all of which he loves! I was impressed he was actually interested in watching the game, and Spencer has even taken him back a second time to get autographs (Evan Longoria, David Price and Jeremy Hellickson – for those that care)!

An Old Friend…

One of my longest friendships has been with my childhood next door neighbor – Anne Knie Rorberg. Oddly enough, we had our first kids within two months of each other, and plan to instill the same friendship in them.

Anne and her family live near Shreveport, LA… where her husband Kris is currently stationed.  The boys met  for the first time, on Jacob’s first trip to Seattle, when they were 4 and 5.5 months old:

Anne and Jacob have been in the Seattle area for the last month, and we joined them at the Kidsquest Museum last week. I can’t believe how much the boys have grown up!!

It was IMPOSSIBLE to get both kids in the same shot – they were having WAY too much fun playing. I did manage to get one at the very end...

We hope that the Rorberg clan (currently 3, soon to be 4) will join us again in the Northwest someday, but for now we will continue to make time for them when they are here visiting throughout the year!

Spring?

For those of you that don’t live in the Seattle area, you probably think it rains here all of the time. Well, normally, we say that it’s the best kept secret that it DOESN’T actually rain all the time…. However, I am beginning to think that summer is never going to get here. I am slightly jealous of all of my Arizona friends, posting stories of the hot sun and days spent outside by the pool. I even had a conversation with my boss about how it couldn’t possibly be May yet because it doesn’t smell like it!

This weekend we finally got a peak of what some people call spring. What was the first thing I did? Spontaneously bought a water/sand table for Saylen to have in the yard. And what is the second thing I did? Ran out to Home Depot and bought a BBQ to replace the broken one. Yep, now we are all set for summer…. if it would just hurry up and get here!

Here are some pics from our pre-summer weekend…

“Wow mom, this new toy is really fun! This sand stuff doesn’t taste very good though…”

The sunshine even brought Aunt Kate out of hiding – what a treat!

Easter Weekend…

Saturday we did the Easter Egg Hunt at the Woodland Park Zoo and Sunday we spent the afternoon at Great Grammy Shirley’s with Grandpa Dan, Grandma and Grandpa Annunziata and the rest of the gang.

Congratulations!

Congratulations are in order to my sister and her boyfriend Justin. About a month ago they got engaged, and I have yet to make it official on the blog! We spent a weekend with them and another couple at a beautiful home on north Whidbey Island. If you are in need of a stay-cation, check out the website at www.soaringeaglelodgewhidbey.com.

Justin popped the question by the fire on Saturday night. Here are some pics of the happy couple:

After the big event, we decided to head to the hot tub… each couple emerging from their room in a strikingly familiar outfit – completely not planned!!

The remainder of the weekend was spent playing games, consuming far too much food, and enjoying the amazing surroundings, including our very own back yard Bald Eagle’s nest.

I forgot to mention, the final activity of the weekend was our fantasy baseball draft. Spencer, Justin/Kaitlyn, and I each own our own team, so this was a big event. I made sure to bring my “keeper” shirts with me (if you don’t get what that means, don’t worry, just baseball talk). We were all happy pre-draft, but I can tell you today I am little sad that both Evan Longoria and Josh Hamilton are on the DL!!

I can’t wait to head back to this amazing spot! Hopefully we can make it an annual trip!

Viewer Discretion Advised…

Nothing about this post is G rated… well, ok,  it isn’t actually that bad, just not for the squeamish.
